Tim Ames
Executive Director
Tim’s background includes Executive Director of Plan Institute a Vancouver based non-profit charitable organization founded in 1989 to help families secure a better future for their loved ones with disabilities. It was here that Tim learned the importance of effective implementation of collaborative strategic direction, and Tim brings this valuable experience with him to the Board of HCFH.
Tim brings an extensive background from the tech sector with him to HCFH, having worked for three years as General Manager for Tyze—an online personal networking service and a certified B-Corp Social Enterprise developed by PLAN.
While managing his full-time job, and NFP Board responsibilities at HCFH, Tim also makes time to teach Sustainable Innovation at Simon Fraser University (SFU), is a co-instructor of the SFU Radius sponsored Change Lab experience and a Mentor in Residence at SFU’s Venture Connection. Before working In the Not for Profit sector Tim was the Managing Director and Vice President of an International technology company. He has worked in Canada, the USA and Europe.
When Tim Ames learned about the vision and mission of House Call for Humanity back in 2017, he was immediately excited about its potential. Right from its beginnings, Tim felt he wanted to contribute in an ongoing and meaningful way. While HCFH aligned perfectly with Tim’s core values of helping those in need while at the same time bringing practical, solution-based strategies to the forefront, it was HCFH’s model of a global vision combined with a local presence that really attracted Tim.
Tim always makes himself available to lend important input on agenda items for HCFH, from strategic direction for the Board of Directors, to networking in Vancouver’s downtown east side, to organizing the AGMs. He works hard to expand HCFH’s network of resources, both human and technological. Tim stays busy making key introductions between HCFH Board members and other instrumental partners in the Vancouver NFP sector.
Tim Ames brings over 25 years of experience in business, sales, management, and personal development along with his NFP expertise, and he is passionate about helping HCFH become successful and sustainable. He looks forward to HCFH expanding its reach to help as many people as possible by further development of its innovative and sustainable model, and with a keen focus on the use of technology to expand its reach effectively.
