Dr. Gohar Sheikh DC

Founder, Chief Director

Dr. Gohar Sheikh is the Visionary, Founder and Chief Director of House Call for Humanity. The concept for a humanitarian and charitable organization that would bridge successful practitioners with patients in need grew naturally out of his extensive travels and passion for treating patients. There were routine miracles witnessed when he ventured off the beaten track to help others, whether it was locally at a homeless shelter, or in a poor rural village when travelling abroad.

Gohar Sheikh distinguished himself since his earliest training. After studying Human Biology (Honors) at McMaster University, he was accepted to early admission at Toronto ‘s prestigious Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where he attained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and received the coveted Dr. Ron King Award for clinical excellence. Gohar also had his first taste of international medical mission work when volunteered with a World Health Organization affiliate operating in Sri Lanka during the height of its Civil War. Though an intern at the time, he treated patients first hand in the Kalubowila General Hospital in Columbo, and made time to learn Traditional Acupuncture and Homeopathy from the International Institute of Medicine.

In the mid 1990’s, Dr. Sheikh established his first private practice in Vancouver, BC.  Dr. Sheikh not only maintained his full-time practice, but he kept up with the latest developments in Chiropractic and related fields, and continued to develop an awareness and understanding of the many benefits spinal care, manual medicine, chiropractic and physical therapy could offer to underprivileged people in relation to chronic pain and MSK disorders.

In both 2018 and 2019 Dr. Sheikh was team leader for 2 separate House Call for Humanity Medical Missions in rural Punjab province, Pakistan.  Here he provided spinal and orthopedic care for the poor and needy, as well as partnering with local doctors he recruited to provide necessary medical care for conditions including diabetes, hypertension, anxiety and gynecological disorders.

In 2019, Dr. Sheikh was also team leader for 2 separate House Call for Humanity Medical Missions (October and November) held right  in Vancouver’s downtown eastside, for the homeless and destitute.

It is Dr. Sheikh’s ambition to share this vision of House Call for Humanity with as many doctors and therapists as possible.  His focus is on the many benefits that manual medicine and manual therapies can safely and sustainably provide for MSK diseases and disorders, post surgical pain, chronic pain, and in helping to break the addiction cycle in reference to the current opioid crisis.
